Commander Link panel
Select Link from the Left or Right menu to display the
Commander Link dialog box. Select which mode to use, Master
or Slave, and which port to use, either serial or parallel.
Master vs Slave
The master computer controls the functions of the slave
computer. You can copy files either to or from the slave.
Hint: Put the master's link panel on side of your screen
that is next to the slave computer. For example, if
your slave computer is to the right of the master,
put the master's link panel on the right:
Master Slave
+---- C:\ ---++- Link:C:\ -+ +--------------+

| || | | ###### ||
| || | .---. | ######---+|
| || | |C> |
|------------||------------| +------##------+
+------------++------------+ +------##------+
C>_ +--------------+
Notes:
. You can copy and move files to and from the slave,
rename files, delete files, create and delete
directories, and change file attributes. You cannot,
however, view a directory tree of the slave computer.
. If the link is active, you can type "Link:" in front
of file names for the source or destination of a copy,
rename/move, delete, or a make directory.
Cloning
Use the Clone option to partially install the Norton Commander
on the Slave machine. This installation is done over the
serial cable.
Once cloned you can run Commander on the other PC and setup a
Link as normal.
